Your Instructor
Michelle Alleyne, Supply Chain Strategist & Founder, earned a B.S. at Howard in Fashion Merchandising & Business Management, exchanged at FIT studying Apparel Production Management, and earned an M.S. from Parsons in Strategic Design and Management; further sharpening her skills to innovate solutions to fashion problems that are ethical and sustainable.
Michelle’s worked numerous years in the NYC Garment Center; Managing Production / Supply Chain (off-shore and domestic) & Logistics, as Product Developer, Merchandiser, Buyer, Trim Buyer; affording her immeasurable industry knowledge from personal hands on experience at every price point.
She founded M SHOP, formerly a hip NYC boutique supporting avant-garde emerging designers, which dressed countless A-Listers. It gave her the opportunity to design her own eponymous label + special organic t’s to raise proceeds for her favorite charities. The boutique has since pivoted into the Full-Service Fashion Firm it is today, providing Workshops, Consulting, + Products to assist fashion brands with Start-up, Growth Strategy, and Sustainability Initiatives (from concept to design & product development, marketing, PR, experiences, fashion show production, sourcing / supply chain strategy, to sales).
In addition, Michelle’s been a Professor at leading institutions - Parsons School of Design, FIT, LIM College, The School of The NY Times, RMCAD. She's Contributing Editor at Fashion Mannuscript magazine. She authored the booklet, “How To Manufacture/Produce Your Designs”, and created SustainableFashionPages.com - a database that connects the fashion industry to Sustainable Supply Chain Resources, as "greening up" the Fashion Supply Chain is her mission.
She's mentored The New School’s Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative, The National Society of Leadership and Success, and is continually invited to critique designers and lecture worldwide on Fashion Start-up & Growth, Sustainability, Sourcing / Supply Chain, & Marketing. She's a Futurist & Thought Leader who’s also been a Stylist for fashion editorials, Millicent Shelton directed music videos, and Spike Lee directed TV commercials.
